The park is popular for hiking, tour and is a nature reserve and an important water catchment area. The park is officially 41,330 hectares within the boundaries of the park and includes over 66,000 hectares of protected forest outside. Mountain and its satellites formed Rinjani Mountain National Park. In 2008, the Indonesian government proposed to UNESCO that Mountain be one of the official Geoparks and has been approved by UNESCO, the Mount Rinjani be the first geological park in Indonesia.
Rinjani has obtained the World Legacy Award from Conservation International and tourists (2004), and was a finalist for the Tourism for Tomorrow Awards (2005 and 2008) of the World Tourism Travel Council (WTTC).
Gunung Rinjani is an active volcano in Indonesia on the island of Lombok. Administratively, the mountain is located in North Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara Indonesia rose to 3,726 meters (12 224 feet), making it the second highest volcano in Indonesia.
On top of the volcano is a caldera 6-by-8.5 kilometers, which is filled partially by the crater lake known as Segara Anak or Sea (Sea Son) because blue lake water as Sea (Sea). This lake is about 2,000 meters (6,600 feet) above sea level and estimated to be about 200 meters (660 feet) deep, the caldera also contains hot springs. Best time to climb Mount Rinjani
Trekking to Mount Rinjani is best time to climb during the dry season April-November. January to April every years in generally closed for climber during the rainy season.
